Pacefuturo was officially established in 2004 at the Monastic Community of Bose, following a number of meetings among friends on the subject of peace which began in autumn 2001 after the New York terrorist attacks.
Since 2006, the association runs Villa Piazzo in Pettinengo (Biella), a mid-1800 mansion owned by the community of Pettinengo, surrounded by a 25-acre park.
The association mainly works in the following fields:
- culture: promoting paths for peace and future influenced by the values stated in the Carta di Oropa, the founding document of Pacefuturo (meetings, exhibitions, concerts, rallies, get-togethers…)
- welcome and solidarity: concrete projects of solidarity and the so-called generative welfare targeted at vulnerable citizens (disabled, unemployed, homeless, persons seeking international protection, …)
- territory: rediscovering and promoting the local artistic and landscape heritage (from past and present artists to industrial archeology via the historical paths to the factories)
